Organic bedding
When we start looking at our lifestyles with a more critical eye, one realisation likely to cause a stir is the level of chemicals we are exposed to while we sleep. This makes organic bedding a perfect solution.
Organic bedding is increasingly becoming an absolute essential for many 'Organics', but exactly why is it necessary? Some may consider it a step too far - but there are in fact very good reasons for the trend.
For example, organic bedding contains none of the pesticides used in the production of natural fibres such as cotton, while non-organic bedding, which does contain these pesticides, is also treated with chemical based dyes or flame retardants (for nylon duvets).
More disturbing though, is the fact that 'easycare' fabrics (usually polyster or polyester/cotton blends) are often finished with a formaldehyde resin that gives them their 'easycare' feature.
As the resin degenerates over time, the formaldehyde is released as a vapour - exposure to which can result in symptoms such as headaches, respiratory problems and skin rashes.
A worrying thought when you consider that we spend about one third of our lives in bed!
Organic bedding can offer not only a peaceful night's sleep, but peace of mind, as it contains none of the chemical resins or residues left over from growth or production.
