To make an organic alternative of a takeaway pizza, you will need to successfully make or buy an organic pizza base, the tomato sauce and the toppings.
Without the base, your pizza will just be a sloppy mess - not complaining, just observing...
So, starting with the pizza base, you will need the following ingredients: flour, yeast, salt, olive oil, milk and water. You cannot get organic water or salt (so don’t go visiting those snake oil merchants), but you can buy organic flour, yeast and olive oil. You can also find organic milk suppliers in the organic dairy section on our website.
If you have little time to make this meal, you could buy a pizza base form an online retailer, your local bakery or the local supermarket. Remember it must be organic.

For the sauce you can follow this recipe showing you how to create organic pizza sauce. It is really simple, I think I could do it with my eyes closed.
For the topping you have a lot of freedom. Do you prefer vegetable or meat pizzas? Do you like a combination of both? Well either way you could put toppings such as: onions, mushrooms, peppers, small pieces of chicken, sausage, ham, bacon. Maybe even some sweetcorn or chilli.
But you must ensure that the toppings are organic.
So that is the pizza made up. Now how will you cook it? Maybe you are fancy and have built yourself a brick pizza oven or you may just choose to cook it in an oven if need be.
Next you need a side. You could have chips, which we explained how to acquire organically in the Burger and Chips section of this article, or you may have potato wedges.
For potato wedges, you obviously need organic potatoes but what about the herbs and spices you will put on them. You will need make sure they are organic like every other ingredient you use in this fast food meal. Also, again like chips, how will you cook them? In oil? If so then you will need to cook them in organic oil. Maybe you could use organic olive oil. We prefer to bake our wedges so we do not use oil. This makes the meal healthier.
Sometimes you may have some breaded chicken pieces as your side or even, if you are a big fan of food, have them with chips. Organic breaded chicken is very easy to make all you need to do is smother your organic chicken pieces, which you can buy an organic chicken breast from the butchers, in organic butter. Then can you either bake or purchase organic bread. With this bread you blend it down into breadcrumbs and then cover the organic chicken pieces in the breadcrumbs. If you cook with oil, once again that needs to be organic. Simple right?
