Indeed, there are a number of dimensions to the production of organic meat. Firstly it is necessary to feed animals with 95% organic feed annually.

Perhaps a more important requirement for organic meat is the welfare of the animal that produces it.The Farm Animal Welfare Council's Charter lists the following rights:

Freedom from malnutrition
Freedom from thermal or physical discomfort
Freedom from injury and disease
Freedom to express most normal, socially acceptable patterns of behavior
Freedom from fear

Other standards required for organic meat production prescribe low densities of animals, no growth promoters and no high protein feeds.
